2024 NSSTA Congressional Connect Campaign Initiative

Members of the NSSTA Board of Directors and the NSSTA PAC Board met in Washington, D.C., on Capitol Hill to participate in the 2024 “Congressional Connect Campaign Initiative.”  Over two days, structured settlement industry leaders met with more than a dozen Members of Congress to educate Congressional leaders on the value of structured settlements for injured people and their families and the importance of promoting and preserving 104(a)(2) and Section 130, our critical tax code provisions.

The American Association of People with Disabilities ADA Celebration!

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) hosted over 500 disability rights leaders at their annual ADA Celebration, which took place on July 26th, the anniversary date the ADA was signed into law. With over 300 in-person guests and over 200 guests participating virtually, it was a robust and committed group of leaders attending the celebration. Eric Vaughn from NSSTA attended as a supporter and as a member of AAPD's Board of Directors, a position he has held for over twelve years.

New Rule: Department of Housing and Urban Development Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA)

NSSTA is proud to report a major new federal regulatory development now establishes the ability to receive a structured settlement without jeopardizing housing assistance provided by the federal government.  In 2019, John McCulloch with IFS led the effort with NSSTA and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) to encourage the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to add new income exclusion language to the “Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act.”
